What it is
Every Scottish university publishes its entry requirements, and every one of them publishes them differently: buried on a course page, split between a standard offer and a lower widening access offer, with the essential subjects written out in a paragraph. Finding out what your grades actually get you means opening a few hundred tabs.
The calculator does that bit for you. Add your subjects and grades, tick widening access if it applies to you, and it checks you against all 1,506 courses at once.
Not sure what you want to study yet? See what each set of Highers gets you, from AAAAA down to DDDD, broken down by subject area.
The three lists
Inside every subject field, each course goes in one of three lists:
- You qualify. You meet or beat the offer.
- One grade short. You’re a single grade off, so the course is one resit away.
- Out of reach. You’re further off, but it still shows the offer so you can see by how much.
Above the lists, it shows what one more grade would actually get you. If you’ve got a B, it works out how many more courses you’d qualify for if that B was an A. Offers only look at grades, so it just says “any B”. As far as an offer’s concerned, a B in Physics is the same as a B in anything else.
Every result links straight to the official course page.
Where the data comes from
Ten universities are in the data: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Heriot-Watt, QMU, Robert Gordon, St Andrews, Stirling and Strathclyde.
That is not all of Scotland’s universities. Edinburgh Napier, Glasgow Caledonian, Abertay, the West of Scotland and the Highlands and Islands aren’t in the data yet, so their courses won’t show up here at all.
These are 2027-entry requirements, so they’re the ones that count if you’re applying this year.
I scraped the requirements from each university’s own undergraduate pages in September 2026. Your subjects are matched against each course’s essential subject text, and where that’s unclear the course gets flagged “check prereqs” instead of the calculator guessing.
Confirm anything you’re actually going to apply for against the university’s own page. Requirements change mid-cycle and nothing here is an offer.
